Turkey, family, football and Yahtzee – there are so many things I love about Thanksgiving. Like many of us, I typically find myself reflecting this time of year. Thankful for big things like good health, a happy home and a rewarding job.
It may be a sign of my increasing crow’s feet, but this year I also found myself appreciating the everyday moments. All the little things that make a big difference in my day. The deer munching on grass outside my office window, coffee breaks with my mama, and movie marathons on the Hallmark channel.
It certainly wasn’t intentional, but by loving these everyday moments I noticed I am spending less energy on the disappointments and daily annoyances. Negative vibes be gone…this chick’s cup is already full!
The “small stuff” is different for everyone. It could be the giggles of your kids or the thrill of learning something new. It may be an evening of board games with friends or the yummy smells of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. It’s amazing where sources of joy will come from when you take a second to stop and notice.
Thanks sis’, for the moments of uncontrollable laughter, for the miles of adventure, and for tolerating my driving. Thanks cube-mates, for participating in my crazy #FeatsofStrength, for sugar binges, and for caring about me like family. And thanks “Pudge,” for the lap to fall asleep on.
This Thanksgiving, and every day, I’m thankful for the small stuff.
