Who could have guessed what 2020 had in store? An international pandemic. Economic fallout rocking many of our trade and supply partners. Raging wildfires leveling communities near where we were building homes. Despite all of the uncertainty, our founder Hayden Homes helped First Story have its biggest year ever.
Each year, First Story proudly recognizes the project manager at Hayden Homes who went above and beyond demonstrating a huge amount of heart and passion for First Story and helping to raise the most cash and in-kind gifts for the First Story home in his or her region. We call it “The NailedIt Award” and it a coveted honor for the project manager and all of the employees in the region.
Never before has the meaning of a safe place to call home meant more and we can’t thank this year’s winner enough for coming out like never before to support his First Story home. In a crazy year requiring flexibility and creativity, we were proud to honor Project Manager Rich Beaman and the entire South Idaho Hayden Homes Team with the 2020 NailedIt Award.
Rich and his team came together to help raise over $80,000 in gifts to make the magic of homeownership happen for Kenny and Amber Wood and their sons Kaleb and Josiah. Kenny dreamed of owning a home for many years wanting to end the cycle of poverty for his family. Amber wanted a place to make memories in and a space to paint whatever color they wanted - a house they could make a home. This summer the family received keys to this dream!
Rich has a big heart for First Story. Recently I asked him to share his thoughts on this entire experience and he was not short on words:
“First Story is the most amazing organization. I have always been so excited, proud, & humbled to have the opportunity to support First Story. I always say it is not an extra task to be a part of this experience; it is always an honor to change lives. Enter the 2020 variable - with my long (15 years) experience of creating rapport with trade partners, suppliers & city municipalities, coupled with my giving mentality, I had an open door to share the vision of First Story and the Hayden Homes’ Give as you Go philosophy. Everyone I spoke to about giving wanted to be part of this amazing opportunity personally & professionally. The giving spirit is so strong here in South Idaho!” – Rich Beaman
Rich, we are eternally grateful for the dozens and dozens of hours you spent advocating for First Story. Thank you for building a charming home for the Wood Family and taking care of every little detail. We are so proud to raise a (virtual) hammer to you and give you a big (virtual) First Story Hi-Five!
