It takes many moving parts, pieces and people to get a First Story home built and the keys into the hands of its new owners. From land acquisition to excavation to raising walls and finishing the trim, many hands and lots of dollars are needed to turn the dream of homeownership into a reality for deserving families.
One of our most important secret weapons are the project managers at Hayden Homes who work behind the scenes to get our homes built. The project managers help us bring our trade and supply partners together, they spend extra time with our homeowners guiding them through the process and they give countless hours managing every little detail of each First Story home. From the wall raising to the key ceremony, they are involved every step of the way.
Each year, First Story bestows the NailedIt Award to the project manager that has gone above and beyond, demonstrated a huge amount of heart and has raised the most cash and in-kind gifts for the First Story home in his or her region. The NailedIT Award is a coveted honor for the project manager and for the all of the employees in the region.
This year we were excited to recognize Michael Poach and the entire team in the I-5 Oregon Region. Michael and his fellow employees raised over $110,000 in cash and in-kind labor and materials for their First Story home. They were so greatly moved to help future homeowner and disabled veteran, David Mohr, his wife Rhandi and their three kids, because their need was indeed great. David’s disabilities put the family’s dream of owning a home out of reach until they learned about First Story. Thanks to the incredible hustle and passion of Michael and his team members, the Mohr Family now has a place to call home.
I chatted with Travis Mills, Michael’s supervisor earlier this week, and he had this to say:
“Michael has grown up here at Hayden Homes. He started as an intern and has grown into the fantastic project manager he is today. Michael truly embodies the spirit of giving. He is always looking for an opportunity to do the right thing. His efforts to raise money for this year’s First Story home was so fun to watch. He was relentless and driven to get everyone involved and invested in making a difference for this First Story family!”
This month we raise a hammer and give a big #HiFive to Michael, the I-5 Oregon Team and all of the Hayden Homes employees that work hard day in and day out to make homeownership dreams come true.
