The First Story 'story'
Our own story began in 1998, when staff from a small, family-owned home building company, Hayden Homes, decided to load some truck beds up to the brim with groceries and donate them to local food banks.
Food donations evolved into financial grants to local nonprofits and then ultimately to the founding of First Story, initially known as the Hayden Giving Fund. With Hayden Watson at the helm, we began to dream – could First Story put home ownership within reach for hard-working families who had done everything right but still couldn't get ahead? The answer over the past 20 years has been a resounding "YES" and now we're celebrating our 100th homeowner!
What began as a simple idea, has become an expanding network of partners, donors and inspired people working together, proving that anything is possible when you give more than you get.
